The Chargers reportedly had hoped to sign linebacker Drue Tranquill, but the two sides couldn’t agree on terms, so he tested free agency and found a new home with the Chiefs.

Tranquill on Friday agreed with the Chiefs on a one-year, $3 million contract, which can max out at $5 million through incentives, the Star’s Herbie Teope reported.

Many Chargers fans learned the news from Tranquill, who tweeted a message to the Chiefs. He also changed a Twitter photo to one of him at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

That didn’t sit well with many Chargers fans, who offered a variety of replies to Tranquill. Many were salty, but some fans were brokenhearted that he had chosen to join the Chiefs.

A few said Tranquill was the Chargers’ best linebacker but now he’d simply be a reserve with the Chiefs (which seems critical of the LA position group).

Here is a look at what was being said on Twitter.

Not all Chargers fans were upset with Tranquill. Some shared positive messages with the new Chiefs linebacker. Here are a few of those.
