Chad Johnson to meet with Montreal Alouettes

Former NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver Chad Johnson could be heading north of the border. As in Canada.

The Montreal Alouettes are scheduled to work out Johnson at a minicamp Tuesday in Vero Beach, Fla.

“We do expect to meet with Chad Johnson and work him out in Vero Beach, FL this week," Alouettes general manager Jim Popp said in a statement. "Talks did take place and have escalated over the last week.”

Johnson wrote about the workout on his official Twitter account.

"Tuesday in Vero Beach I'll be there for there mini camp/on field work," Johnson wrote. "RT @RSnicks18: u gonna make it up to Montreal for training camp Chad?"

Johnson, 36, hasn't played in the NFL since 2012 when the Miami Dolphins cut him following his arrest for a domestic violence case involving his former wife. Johnson served seven days in jail after courtroom antics annoyed the presiding judge.

He has had no other off-field problems.

The former Cincinnati Bengals star has caught 766 passes for 11,059 yards and 67 touchdowns.

Now, Johnson is looking to revive his career in Canada.
