Centre Daily Times awarded 6 honors in 2023 Professional Keystone Media Awards

The Centre Daily Times has been awarded six honors — including four top placements — in the annual Keystone Media Awards, which recognize outstanding journalism in Pennsylvania.

The CDT won for news and sports coverage in the 2023 awards, announced Thursday by the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association in Harrisburg. The accolades are based on work published during the prior year.

Here are the honors received by the CDT staff within its competitive division, reserved for multiday publications with circulation of 10,000 to 19,999:

First place, News Beat Reporting: Josh Moyer, Town & Gown

First place, Lifestyle/entertainment beat: Keely Doll, North, South, Centre

First place, Features video: Abby Drey, “A Changing Downtown”

First place, Sports/outdoor column: Mark Nale, “Afield”

Second place, Personality profile: Keely Doll, “Centre County couple starts support group for COVID survivors, caretakers”

Honorable mention, News Feature Story: Josh Moyer, “Why hundreds showed up to State College’s rally for abortion rights — and what they said”

Awards will be presented in Harrisburg on Nov. 1 during the Keystone Media Awards Luncheon.
