The first nations health authority confirmed wednesday it has been a victim of a cyber security attack. While the investigation is in the early stages, it says some personal information has been impacted. Michelle gomez has more. >> The health authority said it became aware of a cyber security attack on may 13th and intercepted an unauthorized entity that gained access to illustrate network. Some employee information and personal information of others has been impacted. It's unrelated to other recent attacks. >> I can't tell you that it is different from what the province faced. It is also different from what the london drugs incident was. >> Reporter: a solutions architect at duran systems recommends those that are client of the commission to take precautions. >> If you sign md up with an e-mail for them you might want to change the password. Make sure you have a watch on your credit. So you'll want to make sure that you are watching that every now and then. >> The health authority said law enforcement has been notified and the investigation is ongoing. Michelle go he gomez, cbc news, vancouver. >> A supreme court judge is said to release his decision on the future of surrey policing today. They he filed a judicial review on the switch over. Mayor brenda lock want to stick with the rcmp in the still, bum the province has introduced legislation to essentially force the city to transition to a municipal force. The judicial review by the city claims the province is trampling over the city's right, as well as the will of voters. But the province has argued that stopping the transition would create a policing void in surrey. Today's court decision is likely to be a significant step in the city's long-running police saga. >> The B.C. wild service says cooler and wetter weather has helped to take the edge off much of the province's still raging fire activity. Officials in fort nelson are preparing the community for a return home. An evacuation order is still in place. Rob fraser is hopeful they might be able to return home by early next week. There's a community meeting tomorrow at the taylor community hall. >> I'm very excited. And I really hope to see everybody friday. We're trying to get everybody home. Certainly before we have to renew the ess supports again. >> Evacuees have been out of their homes for almost two weeks. Cbc has learned that the son of a man accused in the 1985 air india bombing has been officially warned by mounties that his life may be under threat. As liam britain reports, that is causing concern for some in b.c.'s sikh community. >> Singh malik was acquitted of charges related to the bombing in 2005 and gunneded down two years ago. Cbc has learned mounties are looking into whether the indian government was behind it. Last week police gave his son, hardeep malik, a duty to warn letter, notifying him his life could be in danger from a criminal conspiracy. Several people in B.C. associated with the separatist movement have received letters. Like singh with the couple. >> It always surprising and kind of shocking when these things come out. Somebody's life is at risk. >> Reporter: he will he doesn't know where the threat to him came from but feels for anyone who received a letter. >> You can't go to public spaces soo too often. Up start worrying about those around you more than yourself. >> Reporter: hardeep singh nijjar was also given a letter shortly before his murder last year. >> The downtown east side community is it pull together after al pedestrian was hit by a police vehicle tuesday night. Voouf police say it happened -- vancouver police say it happened after midnight and a man was sent to hospital with serious injuries. Dave hamm is a board member with the vancouver area network of drug users, and he's been looking for witnesses. >> I just blasted the neighbourhood. We had about 50 posters out there right away. And I was handing them out to people in food lieps or whatever. Just word of mouth. And we're the ones that have to keep each other safe. And that too. We can't count on the cops to do it, right? >> The investigation is now in the hands of the iio.

Northbound traffic on 120th street is also slow from old yale road to that boulevard. Weather wise, skies looking pretty sunny. Oh, my god, look at that sun. The toronto mayor, the ontario premier, and the prime minister was there. But the most exciting part of this announcement was the moment where the chair of the wnba passed a gift basketball to stacey dales. A follower basketball player. And the pass was effortless and beautiful. And I am just thought oh, my gosh, we're gonna see more of that. It was like this magical glide behind larry tanenbaum who brought the wnba to toronto. It the first expansion outside of the U.S. it's their 14th franchise team. And here's why you should care. They're gonna play in vancouver. [Laughter] >> Amy: I was already caring. But now I'm deeply invested. >> Marcia: you'll get to see them too. So this idea is that it's canada's team. It not just another toronto franchise. Which I think is a really nice way to put it too. >> Amy: it is. >> Marcia: yeah, they're saying they want to rel mind people that if you don't already know that the wnba players are, you know, a symbol of empowerment. They're also role models. I'm already looking forward to the 2026 season. That's when we have to wait until. We'll have that story for you. Of course I will just told you will everything. So ... An article on the poisoning of the people of grassy narrows. And so the children of the poisoned river talks about the effects of mercury poisonic. Well, it looks as if contamination from a paper mill is adding to that problem and making it an even more toxic environment and waterway. So phillip is going to have that story for us.
