Casey Motter, longtime Atlanta Braves' public announcer, dies at 53

Casey Motter, the Atlanta Braves' tenured public announcer, died early Thursday morning, the club announced in a statement.

A cause of death was not announced by the Braves.

He is known as the “Voice of Truist Park” and has been on the mic for the Braves since 2007.

Motter, 53, was raised in nearby Smyrna, Georgia and attended Campbell High School. His talent was on display when he began announcing his son’s youth football games in the Peachtree district in downtown Atlanta, according to the Braves.

Former Braves manager Frank Wren was impressed when he heard him announcing football games and offered him an invitation to audition for the job.

In 2021, the Atlanta Braves won their first World Series since 1995, which brought great joy to the Georgia native.

“A lifelong Braves fan and Smyrna native, Motter recently reflected on the opportunity to announce the World Series for the 2021 World Champion Braves: ‘It was a dream come true’,” the Braves said in a statement.
