Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price had an eventful evening in a 3-2 shootout win at the New York Rangers on Tuesday.

First, Price left his team’s pre-game warm-up early with three minutes left in the session after taking a high shot near his left shoulder from forward Paul Byron.

Price seemed to be favoring the arm as he left the ice and headed to the locker room. During the time between warm-ups and when lineups were announced, hysteria seemed to ensue as Habs fans were reminded that Price’s MCL injury, which knocked him out for most of the 2015-16 season, took place at Madison Square Garden in November of 2015. All that ended when Price was announced as the Habs’ starter.

The high shot in warm- just the beginning of an action-packed night for Price. Early in the first period, teammate Shea Weber bumped into the netminder and knocked off Price’s helmet.

Price was able to keep together and made 28 saves, including this incredible stop in overtime on J.T. Miller.

Byron also ended up scoring the shootout winner, which probably made him feel good considering his pre-game snafu.

“He felt bad, nobody wants to hit their goalie,” Price said of Byron’s mistake of shooting high in warm-up. “I’m happy he got his redemption.”

The victory was Claude Julien’s first with the Canadiens this season as their head coach. Montreal stayed two points ahead of the Ottawa Senators for first-place in the Atlantic Division. The Habs have now won two of their last nine games.
