The Washington Capitals have set an unprecedentedly high standard for what a Stanley Cup championship celebration should look like.

And while many of the players have demonstrated their partying abilities, the team’s video coach, Brett Leonhardt, certainly put the trophy to good use.

On August 4 in Grand Bend, Ontario, Leonhardt’s friends and family witnessed one of the biggest and most expensive margarita glasses ever.

And it wouldn’t be a party unless Grandpa got in on the action, and Leonhardt’s grandfather, Lester, a World War II veteran, took a swig from the trophy.

The Capitals’ staff member also made sure to give back to his community. Aside from using it for margaritas, the 35-year also brought the trophy back to his childhood rink, the New Hamburg Community Centre for kids and community members to see.

I’d have to say, Leonhardt definitely didn’t disappoint with his opportunity to celebrate with the Stanley Cup.
