Canadiens will unveil prized prospect Cole Caufield versus Flames

Get excited, Montreal.

Hobey Baker winner Cole Caufield will make his first impressions with the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night in a key clash in the race for the postseason in the North Division versus the Calgary Flames.

Barely hanging on to a postseason seed with only three wins from their last 10 starts, the Canadiens have been in serious need of the jolt Caufield figures to provide. An immense offensive talent, Caufield scored 30 goals and 52 points in 31 games for the University of Wisconsin this season, and has only continued to tantalize Canadiens fans with clips like this one since making the decision to turn professional.

Yes, you saw that right.

It's believed the only thing that has kept Caufield from being upgraded from the taxi squad and entering the lineup since his transition from Division I has been the lack of flexibility under the weight of the salary cap for general manager Marc Bergevin.

With the injury situation shaking down as it has, it seems the Canadiens can now make the money work in order to upgrade the diminutive scorer.

Montreal is just four points clear of Calgary with one game in hand, while the lead over the Vancouver Canucks has been trimmed eight points as they continue the process of catching up following their COVID-19 pause.
