If Marc Bergevin wanted to add size up front and get penalty killing help, he did just that in acquiring Dwight King from the Los Angeles Kings for a conditional fourth-round pick.

What are the Habs getting in Kings? “A hard defensive player with experience. Penalty killer. Defensive two-way player,” he told TSN moments after the trade was announced.

King has eight goals and 15 points this season in 63 games. He was a big penalty killer for the Los Angeles Kings averaging 1:33 of shorthanded ice time, and now with Steve Ott and Jordie Benn, the Canadiens penalty kill has improved. But that’s the thing here. Bergevin isn’t exactly addressing a need with this move after what he’s done already. When does he go out and acquire some scoring help? Clock is ticking.

We give this trade… ONE MILBURY

It’s Marc Bergevin picking up forward depth and penalty killing help (currently in the bottom half at 80.4 percent) for a later pick in a draft that many aren’t considering anything fabulous. The Habs have other pressing needs, so with the amount of cap space that’s left, the GM needs to make another move.
