Canadians Brooke Henderson and Alena Sharp in top 6 at Shoprite

A pair of Canadians are sitting inside the top six heading into weekend play at the Shoprite LPGA Classic in Galloway, N.J.

Seventeen-year-old phenom Brooke Henderson of Smith Falls, Ont., sits tied for sixth while Hamilton's Alena Sharp is one of four golfers tied for second place behind tournament leader Morgan Pressel of the United States.

Henderson shot a 3-under par (68) while Sharp recorded a 4-under par (67) to put them both in a good position for the weekend. Leader Pressel was unmatched shooting a 5-under (66).

A birdie-eagle end to her day put Pressel atop the leaderboard in great conditions on Stockton Seaview's Bay Course.

"I really didn't put myself in a whole lot of trouble," Pressel said. "I wouldn't say that I certainly had the best game out there. I guess I just made a few mistakes, and I didn't play all that well, but then I came down birdieing eighth and eagling the last hole. That definitely helps."

The tournament continues Saturday.
