Canadian player rocks KHL All-Star game with Lumineers cover

The National Hockey League may want to take some notes from the Kontinental Hockey League when it comes to throwing an All-Star game.

With some clamouring about notable omissions like Mark Giordano and Morgan Rielly, and one of the game’s biggest stars in Alexander Ovechkin taking a pass, the game itself could certainly use a revamp.

And what better way than to take a page out of the KHL’s book with a live music performance from one of the players. During the league’s skills competition, Canadian and member of Dinamo Riga, Mathew Maione performed ‘Hey Ho’ by The Lumineers.

Absolutely incredible.

And this brings up a genius idea. What if instead of the NHL limiting its skills competition to only hockey-related activities, it decided to branch out and incorporate other talents to the event.

Just think about it. If it weren’t for an extended game delay, we would have never witnessed this famous Jeremy Roenick dance number.

I am sure there are a lot of talented members of the NHL who never get a chance to showcase their non-hockey related abilities. Why not let them do so at the All-Star game?
