Canada's Olympic success music to the ears of Proline bettors

It was a record-setting performance for Canada at the 2024 Paris Summer Games.

Canadian athletes earned 27 medals, including nine gold, over the competition, which ended Sunday. Both totals were national records for a non-boycotted Summer Games.

And that was good news for many Proline bettors. According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., 65 per cent of players picked Canada to win over 21.5 medals in Paris.

As expected, the United States won gold in men's and women's basketball, defeating France in both finals. The men won their contest 98-87 while the women captured a narrow 67-66 victory.

Eighty-four per cent of bettors had the American men winning while 70 per cent had France at +16.5. Meanwhile, 86 per cent of players had the American women capturing their gold medal.

The Toronto Blue Jays dropped two-of-three weekend contests to the Oakland A's. Toronto won the series opener 3-1 before dropping the next two by scores of 1-0 and 8-4.

Seventy per cent of bettors had Toronto winning the opener while 79 per cent took the Jays at -1.5. The following day, 35 per cent of players backed Oakland but only 16 per cent took the under 8.5.

In the series finale, just 16 per cent of players supported Oakland's victory.

The Toronto Argonauts outscored the Calgary Stampeders 32-10 in the second half to earn a 39-25 home win Friday night. The week before, the Stampeders outscored the Argos 21-0 in the fourth quarter for a 27-23 victory at McMahon Stadium.

Sixty per cent of bettors had Toronto winning while a whopping 90 per cent took the Argos at -2.5.

On Saturday night, the Montreal Alouettes defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33-23 at Molson Stadium. Sixty-eight per cent of bettors backed the Als' victory.

Meanwhile in golf, Aaron Rai won the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship but only six per cent of bettors picked Rai’s victory.

A Proline retail player won $1,901 from an $8 bet on a six-pick parlay. A digital bettor turned a $4 wager into a $922 payout on a 10-pick major-league baseball parlay.
