Canada's captain Barrett Hayton leaves game vs. Finland
Canada’s captain Barrett Hayton left during the third period of Saturday’s World Junior Hockey Championship semifinal against Finland.
Hayton was pushed into the boards by Finland’s captain Lassi Thomson, and the Canadian forward clutched his arm before going to the bench.
He was nearly immediately taken to the locker room.

Hayton was loaned to Canada from the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, where he’s played sparingly during his first professional season. The 19-year-old was selected fifth overall in the 2018 NHL Draft.
Prior to Saturday’s semifinal, Hayton recorded five goals and nine points. He added two assists against Finland before leaving the game.
Hayton has emerged as a key component of Canada’s top-line, centering presumptive 2020 first overall pick Alexis Lafrenière and Nolan Foote. After a shaky start to the tournament, Hayton has emerged as Canada’s second-best forward behind his linemate Lafrenière and it would be a tough blow to its gold-medal hopes as it will face Russia on Sunday.
