Call Your Shot: Week Three Predictions

Football fans, we are back again for the third installment of “Call Your Shot” where we will take a look every game, every week, and predict a winner. Buckle your seatbelts folks, here we go.

Los Angeles Rams (1-1) @ San Francisco 49ers (0-2)

Week three gets kicked off by the Rams and the 49ers on Thursday night. The Niners hung with the Seahawks in week two, but the Rams have looked good in the early parts of this season. They are coming off a tough loss to the Redskins but can likely correct their mistakes and get back on track against an even younger and more inexperienced San Francisco team.

Rams win 30-17

Baltimore Ravens (2-0) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1)

The Ravens are a bit of surprise this early in the season, they have played very well. However, they just learned that they will be without key guard Marshal Yanda for the entire regular season. While they could potentially rebound, I think Yanda’s absence will be their downfall against a young Jaguars defense.

Jaguars win 20-13

Denver Broncos (2-0) @ Buffalo Bills (1-1)

The Broncos are having a stronger start this season then most people around the league anticipated. Quarterback Trevor Siemian is playing well, and Denver has the pieces in place to go as far as he will take them. The Bills, on the other hand, stole a win at the hands of the New York Jets, arguably the worst team in the league. I like the Broncos in this matchup.

Broncos win 24-7

Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0) @ Chicago Bears (0-2)

The Bears put up an impressive fight with the defending NFC champions in week one but were blown out by Tampa Bay in week two. Meanwhile, the Steelers have looked good on both sides of the ball. They have won their first two games by a combined 20 points. Expect that number to go up this week.

Steelers win 31-17

New Orleans Saints (0-2) @ Carolina Panthers (2-0)

This NFC South matchup puts the winless Saints against the undefeated Panthers. However, Drew Brees and company will find a way to win eventually, and it just might be this week.

Saints win 24-20

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) @ Minnesota Vikings (1-1)

The Buccaneers came out on fire against the Bears in their first action of the season. The Vikings cooled off due to Sam Bradford’s injury. Bradford is still a question mark heading into this week, and Dalvin Cook is not ready to carry the Vikes alone. I am going with the Bucs on the road.

Bucs win 17-3

Cleveland Browns (0-2) @ Indianapolis Colts (0-2)

Somebody is going get a win in Indy! However, the Colts are still without Andrew Luck. This gives DeShone Kizer and the Browns a chance to steal a win on the road in what is sure to be a hard-fought battle. The Browns have not looked terrible, taking the Steelers down to the wire in week one.

Browns win 14-10

Miami Dolphins (1-0) @ New York Jets (0-2)

Jay Cutler may have been the biggest surprise of week two, he looked quite good in his first outing as a Dolphin. The Jets have looked terrible thus far, getting their doors blown off by the Raiders in week two. They simply are not ready to take on an opponent on Miami’s level.

Dolphins win 27-3

Houston Texans (1-1) @ New England Patriots (1-1)

If any team in the NFL knows how to bounce back from a tough loss, it is the New England Patriots. Tom Brady was incredibly coming off a week one loss and beating the Saints in dominant fashion. The Texans squeaked out a win against the Bengals, who are yet to score a touchdown. Deshaun Watson has not looked good throwing the ball but has scrambled effectively. In order to keep it close, the Texans will need to have a strong pass rush. Regardless, I give this one to the Patriots.

Patriots win 35-10

Atlanta Falcons (2-0) @ Detroit Lions (2-0)

Both the Falcons and the Lions have looked good thus far in the season, both teams playing well in primetime this past week. They both were slow out of the gate and had to battle for their week one wins, but looked much stronger in week two. This will be a showdown of two gunslingers, but I favor Atlanta due to their superior defense and run game.

Falcons win 27-21

New York Giants (0-2) @ Philadelphia Eagles (1-1)

In a showdown of NFC East rivals the Giants take on the Eagles. Carson Wentz and his teammates have looked very good thus far, their loss coming to the Chiefs. The Giants, on the other hand, have struggled immensely. Their offense can not seem to get anything going, and their defense is nothing to write home about. I give this one to the Eagles at home.

Eagles win 24-13

Seattle Seahawks (1-1) @ Tennessee Titans (1-1)

The Seahawks and the Titans square off in Tennessee. The Seahawks have looked subpar to this point. Their poor play highlighted by the illegitimacy of their offensive line. The Titans got off to a rough start against the Raiders but got on the right track this week. I believe that Marcus Mariota will lead his team to victory over Seattle this week.

Titans win 24-10

Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) @ San Diego Chargers (0-2)

The matchup of a 2-0 team vs a 0-2 team would normally not be of two teams much alike. The Chargers are two missed field goals away from being 2-0 along with the Chiefs. However, at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is what shows up on the stat sheet. The Chiefs will likely take this one behind another strong Kareem Hunt performance.

Chiefs win 28-13

Cincinnati Bengals (0-2) @ Green Bay Packers (1-1)

This matchup is simple, Aaron Rodgers vs Andy Dalton.

Packers win 28-6

Oakland Raiders (2-0) @ Washington Redskins (1-1)

The Raiders take on the Redskins in Washington in week three. The Raiders are my favorites to win the AFC, but I feel as though Washington could potentially give them a run for their money. This will only be the case if the Skins are able to get healthy, as their starting running back is currently questionable. Given the uncertainty with the Redskins health, I will take the Raiders here.

Raiders win 24-17

Dallas Cowboys (1-1) @ Arizona Cardinals (1-1)

Ezekiel Elliot made headlines all over the NFL after being shut down by the Broncos last week. He will look to rebound and do so in a big way. I think it is likely that Elliot has a good performance, and the Cardinals simply do not have the offense to compete with the Cowboys with David Johnson out.

Cowboys win 20-10

That concludes this weeks edition of “Call Your Shot”. Feel free to reach out on twitter and let me know what you think about my predictions. Until next week, football fans.
