Calabria responds to ‘invented situations’ via Instagram story – photo
Davide Calabria’s situation at AC Milan has been on a downward path since the summer, and now, he has spoken about things.
When Emerson Royal joined in the summer, the Brazilian was not guaranteed a place in the starting XI and his arrival was meant to help Calabria. However, the former Tottenham man has seen more game time.
Since then, the Italian has struggled for minutes, mainly due to injury, but when he has been given chances, he has not massively impressed. On Wednesday, the situation reached a somewhat climax, with the defender ignoring the head coach Paulo Fonseca, and today, he has responded to things on his Instagram. These are his words:
“Hello everyone. I feel obliged to provide clarity.
“Over the last few months, I have let a lot of things slide, avoiding responding to ‘unpleasant’ or invented situations in order not to waste time and energy. Perhaps I should have done so even earlier. Today I think the time has come to say a few words.

CorSport: 157 days of ‘episodes’ – Fonseca’s boldest words since joining Milan
“As in the past, a lot of misinformation has been circulating in recent days about me and our team. Fake news that deserves no weight, but which I now believe requires a response to protect my image and that of our team.
“These inferences about field dynamics, various confrontations and my private life do not correspond to the truth, they only create confusion and division. I ask for respect for me, for our work and for the club we represent.
“Constructive criticism is part of our job, but falsehoods are not. I urge everyone to check before spreading news that can harm people or our environment. Our focus remains on the field, where every day we work with the utmost professionalism to improve.
“I will not allow anyone to undermine my love and commitment to my favourite team. Thanks to those who always support us. Forza Milan!”
