Bujold and Poulin-Labelle Both Ink Contracts In Sweden
Sarah Bujold and Maude Poulin-Labelle weren't free agents for long as the duo both signed in the SDHL, joining Sweden's top league.
Bujold, who spent three seasons in Sweden before spending a year in the PHF with the Metropolitan Riveters, and last season in the PWHL with the Montreal Victoire, has signed with perennial powerhouse Lulea.
"This feels great and I'm really looking forward to being part of Luleå Hockey - which is a top-class organization and has a strong winning culture that I'm looking forward to being a part of," Bujold said in a translated press release.
"From my time in SDHL, I remember Luleå Hockey as a disciplined team that always played with both speed and hard work. Playing against them was always a tough challenge. So it will be fun to experience it from the other side as well."
Last season Bujold had four points in 21 games with Montreal.
Maude Poulin-Labelle, who attended the Boston Fleet's training camp as a free agent invite has signed with Brynas.
"It feels really exciting to come to Brynäs IF," Poulin-Labelle said in a translated press release. "It will be a completely new challenge for me with a new country and league. I have only heard good things about the organization and the team and I think we have every opportunity to achieve good results."
Last season Poulin-Labelle played 11 games for the Toronto Sceptres after being selected by the Montreal Victoire in the inaugural draft. This will be Poulin-Labelle's first season in Europe as she stepped directly from the NCAA to the PWHL last year.
