Bruins fans throw tantrum after controversial Blues goal

The St. Louis Blues escaped with a controversial second goal during Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final, and the TD Garden crowd was predictably incensed after the fact.

With the puck in the Bruins’ end, Blues forward Tyler Bozak appeared to blatantly trip Bruins forward Noel Acciari, but the infraction went uncalled, and David Perron tucked the puck into the net shortly thereafter.

Here’s Bozak clearly hauling down Acciari:

And here’s Perron putting the Blues up 2-0.

Everyone involved began to lose their composure, starting with the Bruins’ official Twitter account.

Bruins president Cam Neely launched a water bottle with form that would’ve made former Red Sox ace Pedro Martinez (in attendance for Game 5, no less) very proud. It’s Neely’s 54th birthday and it doesn’t seem like he’ll be having a party after the game.

Fans also started throwing objects onto the ice.

After the goal, Bruins fans weren’t too pleased and began fighting in the stands.

To rub salt in the wound, Jake DeBrusk cut the lead to 2-1 several minutes later but the Blues would hold on to win, with Perron’s goal standing up as the winner.

As you would expect, Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy was frustrated with how things played out, calling the missed penalty “egregious” and a “black eye” for the NHL.

No matter what happens Sunday night in St. Louis, you know the Bruins aren’t going to go out silently.
