Keon Broxton needs to learn to take a walk when it’s being given to him. And we’re not talking about on the baseball field.

Broxton, a 26-year-old Milwaukee Brewers outfielder, was arrested early Friday morning by Tampa police on misdemeanor trespassing charges. According to the Tampa Bay Times, Broxton was offered a number of chances to leave the scene of a fight and avoid arrest, but he yelled at police officers instead. From the Times:

Police were responding to a Florida Highway Patrol request for backup due to an “active fight” near Howard Avenue and Platt Street in Tampa. According to the arrest report, Broxton was “extremely intoxicated” and had “visible injuries to his face but declined medical attention.” When police asked several people to leave an area of closed businesses, the report states that Broxton “became upset and began yelling ‘Y’all ain’t s— behind your badges.” He was again warned that he was loitering and was “grabbed by one of his friends to remove him from the area.”

Police saw him again three blocks down Howard Avenue and was asked to leave, but continued yelling at the officers, according to the arrest report. Provided a warning that if he returned to the property he could face arrest, he “continued to argue and then walked back on the property” and was arrested for trespass after warning.

He was arrested at 3:26 a.m. and jailed with a $500 bond. Once he was released, Broxton issued the following statement apologizing to the team, law enforcement and Brewers fans, via Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel:

Broxton played in 75 games for the Brewers as a rookie in 2016. He hit .242 with nine homers, 19 RBIs and 23 stolen bases. He had 36 walks compared to 88 strikeouts. This was another whiff.
