There seems to be no end in sight to the contract negotiations between Brayden Point and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Point’s Agent, Gerry Johansson, shared on Sportsnet 650 Thursday morning that the two sides are still far apart on a new contract as the regular seasons looms.

The 23-year-old forward is coming off an electric 2018-19 campaign, netting 41 goals and 92 points in 79 regular season games.

The Lightning’s third-round draft choice in 2014 has been on a steady rise since his 2016 debut, recording 40 and 66 point seasons, respectively, before his stellar campaign last year.

Even after multiple RFA’s signed over the past week, it seems that the two sides are no closer to finding the right fit. Johansson added that Point’s camp has “been ready to go since last July” and won’t be pursuing any offer sheets.

CapFriendly reports that Tampa Bay has just under $8.5 million in cap space remaining.
