Brad Marchand sort of wishes he didn't lick Ryan Callahan

Eight months after he licked Ryan Callahan’s face during the 2018 NHL playoffs, Bruins forward Brad Marchand is willing to admit that he may have taken his super-pest antics a little too far.

Well, sort of.

Marchand, who has a knack for finding unique ways to get under the skin of his opponents, recently joined NBC’s Kathryn Tappen at a Boston-area pastry shop to bake a few cannolis. And as he gave his freshly-baked treats a quick taste test, Tappen couldn’t help but ask about that time Marchand did the same thing with Callahan’s nose on the ice.

“So Brad, last year you’re on the ice and you licked Ryan Callahan in a scrum. What’s goes through your mind when that’s happening?”

Marchand breaks down his thought process in the video below.

“His visor was in my face and I was like ‘this will probably piss him off,'” Machand shares with Tappen. “So I tried to do it, tried to get him to hit me and draw a penalty and it kind of went the other way.

“That was definitely a decision that [you] go back in time and you would play out a little differently.”

So while he pulls up a little short of admitting that licking a dude’s face is just not cool, Marchand appears to express some regret over his actions — which is a step in the right direction for a guy who’s been suspended six times in his 10-year NHL career.
