Bove regains consciousness: Fiorentina vs. Inter abandoned after medical emergency
Edoardo Bove is in hospital and has regained consciousness after a medical emergency, as the match between Fiorentina and Inter has been called off.
The game was suspended at the 17th minute when the midfielder collapsed, prompting medical staff to take him to the waiting ambulance.
According to Sky Sport Italia, he was breathing autonomously when taken to the ambulance, then regained consciousness at the Careggi Hospital, which is very close to the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
The Lega Serie A announced that the Week 14 match has been abandoned and will not be resumed today.
When it does resume at a later date, as per protocol, it will resume from the 17th minute where it was suspended.
Understandably, his teammates and the Inter players were distraught and many in tears at the unfolding situation.
We are all waiting for news on his condition and hoping for a speedy recovery for the 22-year-old.
Bove is a product of the Roma youth academy who joined Fiorentina on loan for €1.5m with the option to make it permanent for a further €10.5m.
