Bruins sign Charlie Coyle, Chris Wagner to multi-year extensions
Turns out, being a very good hockey team helps you keep some fairly good players long-term.
Announced on Wednesday afternoon, the Boston Bruins have extended both Charlie Coyle and Chris Wagner with multi-year contract extensions.

Coyle, the more prominent of the two, signed a six-year deal with an annual cap hit of $5.25 million, keeping him with the team until 2026. He is in the final year of his current contract, which has him earning $3.2 million in 2019-20.
The 27-year-old was traded to the Bruins from the Minneosta Wild prior to last season’s deadline and was a key player for the team’s run to the Stanley Cup Final.
In his 45 regular season games with Boston, Coyle has scored seven goals and 20 points.
Signed as a free agent in the summer of 2018, Wagner seems to have found a steady place with his hometown Bruins. The native of Walpole, Mass., signed a three-year contract extension with a cap hit of $1.35-million — a $100K raise from his current contract.
Wagner was a pending UFA, but will now be under contract until 2023. Through 99 games for the Bruins, the 28-year-old has scored 13 goals and 24 points.
Bruins GM Don Sweeney has a tough summer ahead of him. Star defencemen Torey Krug and Zdeno Chara will both become UFAs after 2019-20 and will need new contracts — the latter being in a much different situation.
With Jake DeBrusk and Matt Grzelcyk requiring new deals as RFAs this offseason as well, the cap-strapped Bruins will need some financial finagling to sort out their contract structure.
