American Airlines this week launched two new flight services from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to popular European destinations as the summer travel season picks up.

Nonstop flights from DFW to Rome and Paris began Thursday. Fort Worth-headquartered American Airlines will use a Boeing 787 for the direct flights to both destinations.

Flights from DFW to Rome are about 10 and a half hours, and flights to Paris are around nine and a half hours.

Launch of the Rome and Paris services mean American Airlines now has 12 daily flight services to Europe from DFW.

Other destinations include Madrid, London-Heathrow, Amsterdam, Dublin and Frankfurt. The airline will also operate several flights to other international locations, including a recently resumed nonstop service to Tokyo and services to Seoul, Shanghai, São Paulo, Buenos Aires and Santiago.

“These flights provide more direct service to popular summer destinations where our customers want to travel and we are proud to continue growing our global network as DFW’s hometown airline,” said Jim Moses, American Airline’s senior vice president of DFW hub operations, in a release. “Following the airline’s best-ever Memorial Day weekend operating performance, we are excited to continue the momentum and deliver for our customers all summer at American’s largest hub.”

During the recent Memorial Day weekend from May 25-29, American Airlines serviced more flights than any other carrier, the company said. The airline also led the industry in on-time departures for the fifth month in a row as of April.

DFW Airport and American Airlines also recently announced a $4.8 billion expansion to build a sixth terminal, Terminal F, and renovate the existing Terminal C. The project will span ten years and will add 24 new gates to the airport.
