Bombers ink three from 2016 Draft class

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have locked in three of their 2016 draft picks by signing defensive lineman Rupert Butcher, linebacker Frank Renaud, and offensive lineman Zachary Intzandt to contracts.

Butcher was selected 46th overall by Winnipeg in 2016 and attended training camp with the club. He played in the CIS East-West Bowl as a senior after posting 10.5 tackles and three sacks in eight games. That year, he was named an OUA first team All-Star.

Intzandt was selected 37th overall by Winnipeg in 2016 and attended camp last year with the team. He was a two-year starter with the Marauders at right guard. As a junior, he earned second team OUA All-Star Honours, and as a senior was named a first team OUA All-Star.

Renaud was selected 63rd overall by Winnipeg in 2016 and also attended training camp with the Bombers last season. He played three seasons with the Lancers, and during that span he made 120.5 tackles and added 7.5 sacks. He also forced seven fumbles and recovered three more.
