The Toronto Blue Jays haven’t had the best season. That’s no secret.

But that doesn’t mean the club can’t have a little harmless, good-natured fun at the expense of the team’s rookies, right?

After defeating the New York Yankees at home in a three-game series over the weekend, the veterans of the squad held a pretty hilarious photoshoot that starred the team’s rookies in full costume on Monday.

And with no game on their schedule during the home stand, the crew left the Rogers Centre and ventured the streets of Toronto in their head-turning getups.

Derek Law, one of the team’s pitchers, shared the highlights of the day via Instagram for all to enjoy.

Two things occurred to me after seeing these pictures and videos.

  1. Those are some pretty dapper costumes.

  2. There are that many rookies on the Blue Jays?

The highlight of it all though had to of been catcher Danny Jansen dressed up as a cop and assisting local law enforcement at some of the city’s busy intersections. (However, Rowdy Tellez as Nacho Libre was also hilarious.)

With the 2019 campaign coming to a close at the end of the month, it’s good to see the team is still having a little fun at the ballpark this late into a trying season.
