In a season mired in mediocrity and uninteresting baseball, the Toronto Blue Jays turned back the clock to celebrate a pair of teams that were anything but.

Ahead of their game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday, the Jays honoured the beloved members of the back-to-back World Series championship-winning teams of 25 seasons ago.

Getting to throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the game was former voice of the Toronto Blue Jays, Jerry Howarth. The man behind the mic stepped down after 36 seasons of play-by-play duties due to health concerns but Howarth posted a special message to let everybody know that he is doing well.

Toronto also offered fans in attendance an all-time class giveaway; a three-piece bobblehead featuring Roberto Alomar, Paul Molitor, and John Olerud. It’s fair to say there’s something about a figurine with an unproportioned head that makes fans go crazy.

The team had many familiar alumni on-hand for the game including Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar and World Series hero, Joe Carter. As members of the only Toronto sports teams to win a Big-Four championship over the past 50-years, players, staff, and others associated with the 1992-93 Blue Jays hold a unique bond with sports fans in the city.
