The Toronto Blue Jays made history on Thursday, but not the good kind.

With runners on second and third in the bottom of the first inning against the New York Yankees, star first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. chopped a ball that made its way around the diamond in a unique way. It's really best if you see the Blue Jays' humiliating baserunning effort with your own eyes:

With a scrambled run between third and home by Marcus Semien, which caused both him and Bo Bichette to be the second and third outs on the play, this debacle carved its way into the record books. This theatrical rundown resulted in a 1-3-6-2-5-6 triple play, the very first of its kind in MLB history.

After this monumental series of outs, Toronto went on to lose the game 8-4 — caused by yet another bullpen mishap — and is now officially under .500 with a 33-34 record. The Blue Jays now sit fourth in the AL East, 8.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays.
