The 31-year-old Quincey is a veteran of 548 NHL games and has taken part in 54 postseason contests. He’s a pending unrestricted free agent and carries a salary cap hit of $1.25 million. The Blue Jackets are currently tied for second place in the Metropolitan Division with 84 points.
Quincey has averaged 18:38 of ice-time per game this season and notched 12 points in 52 contests. Overall, he should provide and upgrade for Columbus over Prout, who had dropped on the depth chart. The 26-year-old Prout had played 15 games and notched three assists while averaging 13:04 of ice-time per-game. He has another season left on his two-year, $3.15 million contract.

Recently Columbus general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said he didn’t see his team making any major moves at the deadline and this type of trade seems to fit within his line of thinking.
On the Milbury scale we give this move …
ONE MILBURY: The Blue Jackets get a puck-moving defenseman that can help them this year. The Devils get a defenseman with another year of term for an expiring contract.
