It’s always a good feeling to see a player’s first NHL goal, especially when they get it out of the way within their first 10 games.

After getting the call from the Chicago Blackhawks and making his debut on Sunday, Kirby Dach has scored in just his second NHL contest.

The third-overall pick from the most recent draft was able to pounce on the slap pass coming from defenceman Olli Maatta and put it past Marc-Andre Fleury.

Making space for himself by the side of the net before the goal, Dach had a clear path to be open and available to give the Blackhawks the 1-0 lead.

It was his first NHL point as well.

Dach’s name had fallen quite a bit ahead of the 2019 NHL Draft. When the Blackhawks selected the 6-foot-4 forward third overall, the selection was mainly received with criticism.

Extremely small sample size aside, Chicago might have made the right move by selecting Dach. But who knows, as we’re just two games into his fledgling NHL career.

At least we can all enjoy the fact that he’s on a 38-goal pace.
