UFC Hall of Famer B.J. Penn is being investigated for a DUI after flipping his car in Hawaii, according to Big Island Now. Penn was involved in a single-car accident Feb. 7. He was the only person involved in the accident, and was taken to the hospital.

Penn is OK and was later released, according to TMZ.

The DUI investigation comes after Penn had his blood drawn when he was admitted to the hospital. That is often standard procedure for victims of car accidents. It is then up to hospital staff to determine whether the share the results of a patient’s blood test with police, according to Big Island Now. The hospital decided to share Penn’s blood test results with police, who then opened the investigation.

The crash and investigation continue a disturbing trend for the 41-year-old Penn. He was involved in two street fights in 2019, the second of which led to his release from UFC. Penn was also accused of domestic violence by his long-time partner in April 2019.

Those incidents led to UFC president Dana White declaring Penn will never fight in UFC again.
