Bihar: Dalit leader shot dead after threat from Tejashwi Yadav

A video of a Dalit leader from Bihar is doing the rounds on social media after his death in which he alleged that Rashtriya Janata Dal leder, Tejashwi Yadav, demanded Rs 50 lakh from him for a ticket to contest the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar.

"When I went to his house, Tejashwi came out and asked about my well being. When I enquired him about the ticket for the elections, he said, ‘I would have to cough up Rs 50 lakh as a donation’,” said Shakti Malik who belongs to Lalu’s Yadav's party.

He claimed that Lalu's Yadav threatened him that he would get him murdered if he raises his voice against him. "When I confronted him that just because I am Dalit, you're asking me to pay up money for a ticket, Tejashwi said if you have money you'll get ticket, else you should just go away. And if you raise your voice, I will have you murdered."

Coincidentally, Malik was shot dead in Purnia district of Bihar on Sunday. His wife, Khushboo Devi, in her complaint to the police pointed at a serious political conspiracy behind the murder of her husband.

An FIR has been registered against Tejashwi and his brother Tej Pratap in the case.
