Best moments as USWNT, US men's basketball win gold Saturday in Paris
Saturday in Paris was golden for Team USA. The penultimate day of the 2024 Paris Olympics featured the gold medal games for U.S. women's soccer and men's basketball. Team USA won both games as the USWNT beat Brazil 1-0 before Team USA men's basketball beat France 98-87.
The golden day made for some fantastic celebrations and moments in Paris for Team USA. Here are some of the best:
Golden again: USWNT earns first Olympic gold medal since 2012
The USWNT entered the Olympics under new head coach Emma Hayes in her first Olympic Games. The roster had multiple World Cup winners from 2019 but zero Olympic gold medalists. That inexperience didn't matter with an undefeated run through the tournament and the team's first Olympic gold since the London Olympics.
Former USWNT stars Megan Rapinoe, Tobin Heath, and Ali Krieger were in the stands at Parc des Princes in Paris.

So was Tom Cruise, who had a perfect reaction to Mallory Swanson's deciding goal in the 57th minute.

The squad itself celebrated appropriately on the bus with a combination of champagne and Miley Cyrus' hit "Party in the USA."

Steph Curry powers Olympic gold in men's basketball
Hours after the USWNT's win over Brazil, Team USA men's basketball faced off against France in the gold medal game for the second consecutive Olympic Games.
Celebrities were in the stands for this matchup as well, including TV show host Jimmy Fallon and French Prime Minister Emmanuel Macron.

This marked the first Olympic Games for two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry and defending NBA Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama who were playing for Team USA and France, respectively.
Curry and Wembanyama matched up a few times throughout the game.

Curry went 8-for-14 from the field (8-for-13 from three-point range) and poured it on in the second half. He hit a shimmy celebration following a three-pointer in the third quarter.

Curry played his best basketball in the clutch with four consecutive three-pointers in the last three minutes of regulation. The final three-pointer was deserving of another celebration: his "night night" move that teammates Joel Embiid and Tyrese Haliburton emulated on the bench.

This win gives Curry his first Olympic medal and Team USA men's basketball its fifth in a row.
Team USA is back in action on the court in Paris tomorrow as the women's basketball team looks to win their eighth consecutive gold medal. If they win, it'd be the first gold medal sweep for the USWNT, men's basketball, and women's basketball teams since the 2012 Olympics.
