Bellator Fighter Jordan Parsons, 25, Dies Following Hit-and-Run Incident

Bellator featherweight fighter Jordan Parsons was the victim of a hit-and-run incident on Sunday in Delray Beach, Fla. Bellator officials on Wednesday confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that Parsons has passed away due to complications related to the incident.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear member of the Bellator family, Jordan Parsons,” said Bellator president Scott Coker.

“Jordan was an exceptional athlete and a rising star in the sport. But more importantly, he was an exceptional young man. Jordan was hard-working, dedicated, intelligent, and a pleasure to be around. He represented all the reasons we love this sport. It is a terribly tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and teammates.”

Following the hit-and-run incident, Parsons was taken to Delray Medical Center, where he had at least a portion of his right leg amputated. In the end, however, his injuries were too severe. Parsons succumbed to his injuries Wednesday morning.

The vehicle and driver that struck Parsons have yet to be located. The hit-and-run occurred on Lindell Blvd. and South Federal Highway in Delray Beach, Fla. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Delray Beach Police Department at (561) 243-7800.

Parsons last fought in November at Bellator 146, where he lost a narrow decision to Bubba Jenkins. His professional record will forever stand at 11-2.

Jordan Parsons was born on Aug. 26, 1990 in Fargo, N.D. He was 25 years old at the time of his death.
