Bedard Did Not Know he was Worth a Million Bucks!
Connor Bedard of the Chicago Blackhawks is worth more than a million bucks. However, a lucky hockey card collector may hit the jackpot when they pull Bedard's Young Guns Gold Outburst 1/1 from Upper Deck 2023-24 Series Two Hockey.
Did Bedard know about a $1 million bounty on one of his rookie cards?
"No, I didn't," Bedard told Michael Traikos of The Hockey News during last week's NHL/NHLPA Player Media Tour.
"Yeah, I wouldn't buy it. I mean, it's nice that people take that interest towards me. I probably haven't done as much as Gretzky (referring to Gretzky's rookie cards). To be in any conversation with that is cool, but that's not something I put too much through into."
The hype surrounding Bedard is as exciting as it is unrealistic. We are talking about a player who has scored 2,796 points less than Gretzky. However, many of Bedard's cards are selling for Gretzky prices.
Bounties Sweeping the Sports Card Industry
Imagine this. You walk into your favorite local card shop and pick up a pack of your favorite product. As you fan slowly through the cards you get a glimpse of what could be a special card.
The anticipation builds as you know life changing money is on the line.
That is the new excitement being created thanks to life-changing bounties issued on an assortment of cards.
There is a sports card gold rush taking place right now and it does not matter if Bedard feels his rookie card should be worth $1 million. One of his rookie cards is worth $1 million.
Happy hunting and collecting!
