Anthony Beauvillier had a night to remember in his first game back home in Quebec on Thursday.

Beauvillier’s night started in predictable rookie fashion, as he was sent on a solo skate around the Bell Centre ice with his teammates looking on. It only got better from there, when just over five minutes into the game Beauvillier took a pass from Brock Nelson and snapped a shot past Carey Price to open the scoring.

It was an unforgettable moment for the Islanders rookie, who made his dad shed proud fatherly tears of joy.

Beauvillier was born in nearby Sorel-Tracy and starred for the QMJHL’s Shawinigan Cataractes, so naturally he had a bunch of friends and family on hand to cheer him on as the Islanders went on to beat the Canadiens 3-0.

And just to tie a nice bow on the whole experience, the 19-year-old was also the last player off the ice after being named the first star of the game.

With the win, the Islanders held onto the second wild-card spot and preserved their game in hand over the Bruins, who beat the Kings 4-1 to remain tied with the Islanders at 68 points.
