What’s the latest with the Chicago Bears?

The Bears will be searching for a new head coach for the second time in four years after firing Matt Eberflus on Friday, which culminated in a six-game losing streak and embarrassing loss on Thanksgiving. While Chicago can't interview candidates -- who aren't in house -- until after the season, they can start doing their homework on prospective candidates. And it sounds like president Kevin Warren and general manager Ryan Poles will be conducting a wide-ranging search that includes all of the upcoming cycle's big names.

NFL insider reveals early candidates for Bears head coach job

During NFL Game Day on Sunday morning, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport revealed that president Kevin Warren and general manager Ryan Poles, who will be retained, will conduct a wide-ranging search for their next head coach. They'll explore all the top candidates.

When Matt Eberflus actually lost the Bears locker room

The final straw certainly came in the Thanksgiving loss to the Detroit Lions, inexplicably refusing to use his team's final timeout as the offense was struggling to get themselves gathered and run a play as time ticked away. Making matters worse for himself, Eberflus doubled down in his post-game press conference, but it was long before the loss in Detroit that he lost control of the locker room.

Bears’ Jaylon Johnson went off on Matt Eberflus after Thanksgiving loss

This past Friday, the Bears made franchise history by firing a head coach in the middle of the season for the first time, and part of that decision may have been what happened in the locker room after Thursday's game, specifically with All-Pro cornerback Jaylon Johnson. On Sunday morning's "NFL On FOX" pregame show, Insider Jay Glazer detailed what happened with Johnson, who lashed out at Eberflus while the former head coach was looking to address the team after their sixth straight loss.
