Baylor quarterback Seth Russell has been cleared for Saturday’s game against TCU after passing concussion protocol.

Russell had experienced some concussion-related symptoms, including nausea and headaches, following last Saturday’s 35-34 loss to Texas.

Russell told reporters Monday that he took several helmet-to-helmet hits during the contest, but he couldn’t pinpoint one that left him injured. However, Russell said he started to feel sick hours after the game while having dinner in Austin. He reported the symptoms to the training staff and he was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Russell said his CT scan came back negative.

Coach Jim Grobe dismissed the notion that his starting quarterback could have suffered a concussion.

“My guess is he didn’t have a concussion,” Grobe told reporters Wednesday. “He was maybe dehydrated. The game lasted like 12 hours.”
