Baseball-Marlins pitcher Fernandez dies in boating accident

(Adds details) Sept 25 (Reuters) - Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez has died age 24, the team confirmed in a statement on Sunday with media reports saying he was killed in a boating accident on Miami Beach. "The Miami Marlins organization is devastated by the tragic loss of Jose Fernandez. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very difficult time," the statement said. Fernandez was one of three people killed in the accident, according to media reports. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue received a call about a possible accident at 3 AM Eastern Time, according to a CBS report. They found an overturned boat which had apparently crashed on rocks. Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves has been cancelled as a mark of respect.
