July 7 (The Sports Xchange) - New York Mets relief pitcher Jenrry Mejia returned to the team Tuesday after serving an 80-game suspension for PED use. Mejia, 25, tested positive for Stanozolol in April, although he denied using the substance knowingly. Mejia had an elbow injury at that time, but that has since healed. - - Right-hander Dallas Beeler was recalled by the Chicago Cubs from Triple-A Iowa for a day-night doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals. Beeler was 1-5 with a 6.33 ERA in 13 starts at Iowa. MLB rules allow for teams to add a 26th player to the roster on dates when doubleheaders are played. - - With Tampa Bay outfielder Steven Souza going on the disabled list with a lacerated finger, the team activated designated hitter John Jaso from the 60-day DL to fill the roster spot. To clear space on the 40-man roster, the Rays designated right-hander Preston Guilmet for assignment. - - Los Angeles Angels first baseman Albert Pujols says he will compete in the All-Star Home Run Derby for the first time since 2009.
