Aug 1 (The Sports Xchange) - The Toronto Blue Jays designated outfielder Danny Valencia for assignment on Saturday. The move came after the Blue Jays acquired outfielder Ben Revere from the Philadelphia Phillies before Friday's trade deadline. Valencia is hitting .296 with seven home runs and 29 RBIs in a part-time role over 58 games this season. Outfielder Ezequiel Carrera also was designated for assignment. Infielder Munenori Kawasaki was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo and right-hander Ryan Tepera was sent down to the Bisons. - - - Tampa Bay Rays outfielder/designated hitter Grady Sizemore was recalled from Triple-A Durham. Sizemore had appeared in 15 games for the Rays this season, batting .235 with two home runs and seven RBIs. In a corresponding move, outfielder Mikie Mahtook was optioned to Durham. - - - New York Yankees right-handed relief pitcher Nick Rumbelow was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. To make room for Rumbelow on the roster, right-hander Nick Goody was sent to Triple-A. - - - Infielder Jemile Weeks, designated for assignment by the Boston Red Sox on July 29, cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Pawtucket. - - - Pittsburgh Pirates left-hander J.A. Happ arrived in Cincinnati on Saturday and threw his first bullpen session since being acquired from the Seattle Mariners. Happ will make his Pittsburgh debut on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs.
