April 19 (The Sports Xchange) - The New York Mets lost a pitcher and a catcher because of injuries sustained in the seventh inning of Sunday's game against the Miami Marlins. Left-handed reliever Jerry Blevins fractured his left forearm in the top of the seventh, and catcher Travis d'Arnaud sustained a broken hand in the bottom of the inning. Blevins came into the game in relief of Matt Harvey with two on in the seventh and was injured fielding a ball hit by Miami second baseman Dee Gordon. D'Arnaud was injured when a 1-0 pitch by Miami reliever A.J. Ramos struck him. - - - Toronto Blue Jays rookie second baseman Devon Travis was removed from the game against the Atlanta Braves in the first inning Sunday with a bruised left ribcage. Travis, who is batting leadoff for Toronto while shortstop Jose Reyes is out with cracked rib, was hit by a pitch delivered by Braves right-hander Shelby Miller to open the bottom of the first. He stayed in the game, but with slugger Jose Bautista at the plate, Travis slid back into first on a throw from catcher Christian Bethancourt and in obvious discomfort was replaced by a pinch-runner Steve Tolleson. X-rays were negative and Travis was listed as day-to-day. - - - Detroit Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander is resting his arm again after postponing a light throwing session Sunday. With Boston trailing 5-3, Ortiz checked his swing on a 1-1 pitch from Baltimore starter Miguel Gonzalez, resulting in third base umpire Jerry Meals calling the strike.
