May 24 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Sunday's Major League baseball games: - - Red Sox 6, Angels 1 Wade Miley pitched eight dominant innings and Mike Napoli continued his strong week with another home run and four RBIs to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 6-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Miley (4-4) retired the first 14 batters he saw and allowed just one run on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Koji Uehara then pitched a perfect ninth. Napoli's two-run homer in the second was his eighth of the season and fourth in his last three games. He added a two-run double in the eighth and shortstop Xander Bogaerts collected four hits for Boston. - - Padres 11, Dodgers 3 Justin Upton drove in the game's first six runs while James Shields took a shutout into the seventh inning to lead the San Diego Padres to a 11-3 rout of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Upton went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a two-run double to match his career best in RBIs for one game. Center fielder Will Venable collected four hits and second baseman Cory Spangenberg added three to lead a 20-hit attack for the Padres. - - Athletics 7, Rays 2 Oakland won back-to-back games for the first time since April 14, topping Tampa Bay 7-2, but right-hander Sonny Gray caused some concern when a James Loney hit smashed into his ankle. Gray had to leave the game after five innings and just 67 pitches due to a right ankle contusion that resulted from being hit in the leg by Loney in the fourth inning, though it was later considered as not being serious. Gray improved his record to 5-2 and reduced his earned-run average to 1.77. - - Twins 8, White Sox 1 Brian Dozier went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs to lead Minnesota over Chicago 8-1. Dozier had his second career multi-homer performance, leading off the game with a solo home run and adding a three-run shot in the seventh. - - Cardinals 6, Royals 1 Matt Carpenter belted a two-run homer and right-hander Michael Wacha threw seven strong innings as St. Louis downed Kansas City 6-1. Carpenter, who entered the game with a .486 batting average at Kauffman Stadium, homered in the sixth with Kolten Wong aboard. - - Marlins 5, Orioles 2 Martin Prado homered and drove in two runs while Marcell Ozuna also had two RBIs for Miami in a 5-2 win over Baltimore. Prado went 2-for-4, Ozuna went 3-for-4, and starter Tom Koehler (3-3) allowed just one run in 6-1/3 innings for the Marlins. New closer A.J. Ramos worked the ninth for his second save of the season. - - Astros 10, Tigers 8 Jason Castro's two-run single in the seventh brought in the go-ahead runs as Houston rallied from a four-run deficit to beat Detroit 10-8. Evan Gattis had three hits, including a solo homer, while scoring three runs and driving in three others for the Astros. - - Braves 2, Brewers 1 Right-hander Mike Foltynewicz allowed just three hits over 7-2/3 innings as Atlanta beat Milwaukee 2-1. Liriano (2-4) gave up one run on six hits in six innings and walked two. - - Nationals 4, Phillies 1 Gio Gonzalez worked into the seventh inning and help Washington top Philadelphia 4-1. Bryce Harper had two hits, two RBIs and a key outfield assist for the Nationals, while Denard Span doubled twice and scored a run as Washington won for the seventh time in their last eight games. - - Indians 5, Reds 2 Trevor Bauer pitched into the eighth inning and Cleveland took advantage of three Cincinnati errors to complete a 5-2 win over the Reds. Two of the Indians' five runs were unearned, thanks to the Reds' errors. The Reds came into the game with 17 errors, the fewest in the major leagues. - - Blue Jays 8, Mariners 2 Ryan Goins and Edwin Encarnacion both hit two-run homers in the fifth inning as Toronto beat Seattle 8-2.
