Barcelona facing newfound obstacles in player registration process
Barcelona have been working hard to secure the registration of Dani Olmo, and according to Tot Costa, the club had previously reached an agreement with La Liga president Javier Tebas over the matter.
This agreement would allow Olmo’s registration if Barcelona signed a new deal with Nike and adhered to the 1:1 rule for wages.
As it turns out, however, La Liga has since reversed its stance, stating that this arrangement is not enough to satisfy the registration requirements.
Furthermore, amidst this newfound issue, Barcelona believe that the pressure from two other clubs, Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid, has played a significant role in complicating the situation.
These clubs are reportedly pushing La Liga to create obstacles for Barcelona, making the process even more challenging for the Catalan club.
What’s new with Olmo’s registration?
In the midst of the registration issues, Tebas has expressed optimism, acknowledging that Barcelona has faced numerous challenges in the past but has always found a way to overcome them.
Despite the hurdles, he remains confident that the club will manage to register Olmo successfully.
For what it is worth, Barcelona have until December 31 to complete the registration, and the club had initially planned to register Olmo using the wages of the injured Andreas Christensen.
What if they fail?
If Barcelona fails to register Olmo by January 1, both he and Victor will be ineligible to play for the club until the registration is completed.
To resolve this, Barcelona are exploring a potential deal that could involve selling the management rights of the VIP stands for up to €200 million.
This financial boost would help guarantee Olmo’s registration, but the interference from Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid continues to make the situation more complicated.
As the deadline approaches, Barcelona remain hopeful that they will find a solution, but the pressure from rival clubs is undeniably adding complexity to the process.
