Barcelona ace not contemplating using special clause in his contract to leave in January
Having left FC Barcelona as a teenager back in 2014, it took Dani Olmo a decade to secure a transfer back to his boyhood club.
The La Masia trainee returned to his roots this past summer, arriving from RB Leipzig in a transfer worth €47 million plus add-ons.
However, as is well-established now, due to the club’s financial issues, the Spaniard was only registered with La Liga until December 31st, making use of Andreas Christensen’s injury.
While Barça are working to secure his full registration, it has recently emerged that Olmo has a special clause in his contract with which he can leave the club for free if not registered by January or in any transfer windows in the future until his contract runs.
Olmo relaxed and focused
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Dani Olmo is solely focused on succeeding at Barcelona amidst all the noise around his registration. The player is concentrated on playing and helping the team achieve its goals on the field.
Peace of mind and football – these are the key messages coming from Olmo’s inner circle, while the club works to resolve his registration issues and ensure he is officially registered on 1st January.
As mentioned earlier, the presence of the special clause in his contract is true, but neither Barcelona nor Olmo himself, are entertaining the idea of him leaving for free in January.
With the Nike agreement on the horizon, Barça are also looking to bring in revenue from other streams to return to the 1:1 FFP rule and ensure normal market activity. It would also facilitate the registration of the two players still pending – Olmo and Pau Victor.
As far as Olmo is concerned, donning the Blaugrana jersey again is a dream come true for him, one that has taken many years of hard work to realise, and he does not want to let it slip away now.
