Zemlak was selected ninth overall by the Victoria Royals in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft. He spent three-plus seasons with the Royals, tallying 33 points (10 goals, 23 assists) in 147 regular season games. Zemlak was traded to the Americans in the offseason leading up to the 2024-25 season.
