Athens Drive High School football pulls away from Cary for its second win of the season

After playing to a low-scoring draw in the first half, Athens Drive found its offense after the break, pulling away from Cary for a 28-13 win in Week 3 of the 2024 high school football season.

Athens Drive (2-1), which rolled to a 43-14 win over Green Hope a week ago, struggled to get anything going in the opening half against a Cary (0-3). The teams went into the break even at 7-7.

The visiting Jaguars pounced after the break, putting the Imps down a pair of touchdowns late before the teams traded fourth-quarter scores.

Athens Drive will try to make it three wins in a row next weekend when it visits Apex Friendship, while Cary will have a week off before looking to win its first game of the season on the road at Green Level on Sept. 20. The Gators are also 0-3 to begin the campaign.
