Arsenal's new manager accidentally announced his hiring before the club did

Unai Emery is the new Arsenal manager. That much we know for sure.

Or at least we think?

The 46-year-old Spaniard, who led Sevilla to three straight Europa League titles from 2014-2016 and Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title this past season, seems to have posted on his own official website that he was taking the job, replacing Arsene Wenger’s frustrating but ultimately prosperous 22-year-run in charge at the Emirates.

And then, it was gone:

Did Emery, or someone on his behalf, update his official site a little too early? It certainly seems that way.

For what it’s worth, the Arsenal.com home page at this moment is promoting the club’s new home kit and several World Cup-related items, with nary a mention of Emery’s appointment.

Is Emery the next Arsenal manager? Almost assuredly.

Is it absolutely official? Well, let’s not go there yet.
