Arsenal news: Mesut Ozil is ‘world class’ and should keep on playing, says Alex Iwobi

Alex Iwobi sung the praises of Mesut Ozil after Arsenal swatted aside BATE 3-0 to advance to the Europa League round of 16.

Ozil, making his first start since 29 January, was instrumental in Arsenal’s three goals and revelled in the open game playing in his favoured No 10 position.

The German linked up particularly well with Iwobi on the left-hand side and, after the game, the 22-year-old urged Unai Emery to start Ozil more.

“We know what Mesut is like because we see him in training every day,” Iwobi said.

“He’s world class. We scored three goals as a result of him playing.

“I know if I make a run he has the vision to find me.

“Hopefully he can keep on playing.”

Ozil has been ushered into the cold – at least when he hasn’t been suffering from one himself – by Emery for much of this season, missing as many games as he played.

The playmaker’s £350,000 per week wages have become a distinct haemorrhage in the clubs ability to recruit.

However, despite frequent speculation of being unsettled, Ozil has been clear that he sees is future at the Emirates.
