Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka is in a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of the Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, according to the Daily Mail.

The England international picked up a thigh issue against Chelsea before the international break and was substituted after receiving treatment in the 81st minute.

Leandro Trossard is also a doubt as the Arsenal attacker is recovering from a knock he sustained while he was on international duty for Belgium this week.

The Gunners are now hoping the 29-year-old has not suffered a serious injury.

Trossard was substituted during the first half of the Nations League game against Israel on Monday night, having looked to be in some discomfort after attempting to try to shake off the knock.

While there is hope the issue is just severe bruising, it remains to be seen whether he can recover in time for the visit of the Tricky Tees.

Declan Rice also pulled out of international duty after he was withdrawn having played with a broken toe against Chelsea, but he is expected to be available for action this weekend.

The Gunners did not win any of their last four Premier League matches and are nine points behind leaders Liverpool after 11 games.

They will be desperate to return to winning ways against Forest, but it will not be an easy ride as the visitors are only behind them in the table on goal difference.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have five wins, four draws and two defeats this season, and a tough encounter is on the cards for the hosts.
