Arizona Trading Co. expanding with new location in Kansas City’s Crossroads

Lawrence’s Arizona Trading Co. — described as the “go-to for stylish, affordable clothing” — is expanding in the Kansas City market.

The company plans to open a 5,000-square-foot store at 1722 Oak St., in the Crossroads, by late July. But the owners hope to show off the space for First Friday events on July 7.

“We looked at a lot of different places in Kansas City, there are so many fascinating neighborhoods that for us would be a good fit,” said Jennifer McKnight, founder of Arizona Trading and owner with Venus Nichols.

But they wanted a stand-alone building with its own parking lot to make it easier for customers to unload their trades.

The first store opened in late 1991 in Lawrence, to buy, sell and trade clothing and accessories for women, men and gender-neutral. A Westport store opened in 1998. It also sells items via its website.

Merchandise can include current styles of gently used clothing but also exceptional vintage pieces, formal and couture items, and collectibles.
